Starting Up Your Device - Trëzôr®

Your complete guide to setting up your Trezor hardware wallet. Follow our step-by-step instructions to secure your cryptocurrencies with industry-leading protection.

Setting Up Your Trezor Device

Welcome to Trezor.io/start, your comprehensive guide to initializing your Trezor hardware wallet. This process ensures your cryptocurrencies are protected by the highest security standards in the industry. Follow these steps carefully to create your secure vault for digital assets.

Before You Begin

Ensure you have your Trezor device, the supplied USB cable, and access to a computer with an internet connection. Always purchase Trezor devices directly from our official shop to avoid tampered devices. Never share your recovery seed with anyone, under any circumstances.

Initial Setup Process

Connect your Trezor to your computer using the provided USB cable. Visit trezor.io/start in your web browser and follow the on-screen instructions. The setup wizard will guide you through installing the necessary firmware and creating your new wallet.

During setup, you'll generate a unique recovery seed - typically 12, 18, or 24 words. Write these words down in the exact order shown on your Trezor display. Store this recovery card in a secure location, separate from your Trezor device. This seed is your ultimate backup.

Security Best Practices

After setup, consider enabling additional security features like passphrase protection, which adds an extra layer of security beyond your PIN. Regularly update your Trezor firmware to benefit from the latest security enhancements and features.

Remember that Trezor will never ask for your recovery seed or PIN outside of the device itself. Be cautious of phishing attempts and always verify you're on the official Trezor website before entering any sensitive information.
